Owned & operated by the Panella family since1922, when they first converted a 17th-century customs post in Trastevere, Rome, into a humble osteria. Now owned by the fourth generation of the Panella family, Francesco, alongside his brothers, has transformed the history of the Antique Scales into an internationally recognized restaurant of authentic Roman cuisine.

ANTICA PESA BROOKLYN

OPENED 2012

In 2012, the fourth generation of the Panella family opened their first overseas outpost in Williamsburg Brooklyn, a location that pays homage to their Roman home. Located on the other side of a river with the heart of the city facing it, just like their original location of Antica Pesa in the neighborhood of Trastevere, Rome. Williamsburg, Brooklyn is also a neighborhood that has grown and forged its character through a transformation in similar ways.

POP-UP LOCATION

OPEN SUMMER 2021

Francesco's newest pop-up location of Antica Pesa, located on the island of Cavallo, France is an oasis surrounded by crystal blue sea between Sardinia and Corsica. Antica Pesa Mare is opening within The Hotel & Spa des Pecheurs, Cavallo Island during Summer 2021.

An original partnership focused on the innovation of the culinary tradition, attentive to sustainability and the enhancement of local products; an innovative project where the excellence of hospitality and catering blends with the incredible pristine landscape of the Isle of Cavallo, where security and privacy are guaranteed.

A concept developed by Francesco Panella and Tao Group Hospitality, this Ristorante, Bar & Caffe, is a ferocious indoor & outdoor destination for Italian cuisine in the Chelsea Flower District Manhattan. Located inside the Moxy Chelsea, Feroce combines the best of both worlds by importing select ingredients from historic brands and small producers from across Italy and sourcing fresh produce from the best local purveyors in New York.

2015-2018

For three consecutive years, the Antica Pesa team successfully owned and operated a pop-up location in The Middle East. The two-floor waterfront operation located at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl, Doha, offered an elegant new take on traditional Roman cuisine. The Panella family shared a piece of Italy with their world-class cuisine in a beautiful restaurant setting for a truly authentic and unique experience that redefined Qatar’s Italian culinary scene. The menu was based on reworking traditional recipes from Roman cuisine in addition to creating dishes using local organic products for seasonal dishes, with a nod to modern trends.
